About TRiO

MISSION

Funded by a $752,096 annual grant from the U.S. Department of Education, MU’s TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) Program serves 670 eligible undergraduate participants each year. Designed to support first-generation, low-income, and/or students with documented disabilities achieve academic success, MU’s TRiO SSS Program offers holistic services aimed at supporting participants in making a successful transition into MU and continuing through to graduation, to advance their academic, career, and personal goals. 

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

As a participant in this program, you receive holistic and strategic guidance in support of your academic, career, and personal goals, including:

  1. A dedicated “go-to” person on campus for ANYTHING you need including academic & personal advising!
  2. 1:1 academic tutoring
  3. 1:1 financial coaching
  4. Career exploration & degree planning
  5. Assistance with FAFSA completion
  6. Assistance finding and applying for scholarships & grants
  7. Leadership or involvement opportunities through TRiO Student Organization (TSO)
  8. TRiO specific sections of SSC 1150: College Success Seminar
  9. Community events
  10. Graduate & professional school: Spring Break travel
  11. Informational workshops including financial success, study skills, time management, career prep, etc.
  12. Exclusive community room just for TRiO Students

GOALS

The goals of the MU TRiO SSS program are:

  1. To help our students be successful academically
  2. Support our students with the resources they need to stay enrolled at the University
  3. Assist our students in meeting all of their requirements for graduation in a timely manner
